416 WEATHERBY MAGNUM

The following data was developed in a Weatherby Mk V rifle, with a 24-inch barrel. A Leupold 1.5 – 5 scope was installed in Leupold bases and rings. This setup weighs in at 9.6 pounds.

I used this rifle on safari in Zimbabwe in 1993, shooting one elephant and several cape buffaloes with it. I used the Trophy Bonded Bear Claw 400 grain bullet for all the buffaloes, and a Barnes Monolithic Solid for the Elephant.

We used Weatherby brass and the Federal 215 primers in all our tests. All groups are 3 shots at 100 yards.
