300 WINCHESTER MAGNUM

The following data was developed in a Ruger M77 rifle. We got the rifle second hand. The action was in a pretty good shape apart from a few rust spot. The stock was broken at the pistol grip, and the barrel had some rust, both inside and out. It was chambered for the 7mm Remington magnum.

The barrel and stock were taken off, and the action was cleaned and touched up. It was decided to build this rifle in 300 Winchester magnum. A Wiseman stainless steel fluted barrel was chambered and finished at 27 ˝ inches, and a McMillan synthetic stock was installed on the rifle, the colour was matte dark green. A Leupold 3.5 – 10X scope was installed in Leupold bases and rings – this is one of the old Ruger’s that had the round receiver.

We used the Federal 215 primer in Winchester brass. All bullets were molly coated, and the groups are 3 shots at 100 yards.
